Part D Non-Creditable Coverage

Options if your Employer Drug Plan is
Not Creditable for Medicare Part D
4 Options for those that no longer have creditable drug coverage

Higher Income?

If your income is above Medicare’s standard Income level, you pay a monthly surcharge on a Part D plan.  You pay plan premium + surcharge.

Late Enrollment Penalty?

If you do not transition to a plan that has creditable Part D coverage, you will be assessed a Late Enrollment Penalty when you enroll in the future.

Want to keep your Non Creditable Group Health Plan?
Review how to calculate breakeven on adding Part D now or paying a penalty later.
IMPORTANT NOTE—IF YOU KEEP NON CREDITABLE COVERAGE AND DO NOT ENROLL IN PART D
You will only be able to elect a Part D plan during the Medicare Annual Enrollment period
from October 15th to December 7th each year (for the following year’s coverage).

**It will be very important that you reach out to HTA the calendar year before you intend to retire, so we can help you pick out your drug plan before 12/7
