Annual Enrollment Period

Reviewing your Prescription Drug Plan
Important Changes:
Changes to the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan industry have impacted HTA’s ability to service and shop Part D Plans for our clients. In 2025, HTA will have access to less than 50% of the available Part D plans. As a result we have had to adjust the way we help our clients with their Part D plans.

The Good News

2025 Part D plans are simplified and streamlined, making it easier than ever to review your coverage.
We created this webpage along with step-by-step instructional videos to guide you through your Part D plan review this Annual Enrollment Period.

I want to keep my current plan- 4m 8s

I want to change my current plan

Step 1: How to review your Prescription Drug Plan on Medicare.gov

  • Watch the Video on the Right for step-by-step instructions on how to use Medicare.gov to review your plan.
  • Once you have watched the video: Login to your Medicare.gov account (or create an account in minutes)
  • Once logged in, your current Prescription Drug Plan will populate
  • Click “View Plan Details” to view the 2025 Plan Information along with other available plans.
    • Pro Tip- Watch the video a second time once you are logged in for helpful refreshers!

Step 2: What to look for

If you were generally satisfied with your plan this year, then it is likely that your current plan will remain appropriate for next year. Be sure to review:

  • What is the new monthly premium?
  • Are your prescriptions still covered under the plan?
  • Is your pharmacy still in-network?

Step 3: Review and Decide

If you want to keep your current coverage for 2025, no action is needed. It will automatically renew without notifying the insurance company.

If you want to enroll in a new plan: complete the application for the new plan on Medicare.gov between 10/15 and 12/7. Once submitted, you’re done—no need to cancel your current insurance.

Important Dates and Canceling previous Coverage

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from 10/15 to 12/7 annually.  Any plan changes for Medicare Advantage (MAPD) or Prescription Drug Plans (PDP) will take effect on 1/1.  If you feel you made a mistake in your selection, you can change plans as many times as you want prior to 12/7.

After 12/7, you are locked into your Drug plan for the following year.  You will have one additional Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from 1/1 to 3/31.  At that time you can switch an existing MAPD plan or you can cancel MAPD and return to Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement (MS may be medically underwritten to qualify).

You will not need to cancel any previous MAPD or PDP coverage.  The approval of your new policy will automatically cancel any old coverage.  The only plans that you will need to notify the carrier of cancelation are Medicare Supplement Plans.
