Massachusetts Medicare Supplement Plans
Massachusetts Medicare Supplement Insurance plans are different from the plans offered in most other states.
Most states use plan letters such as Plan G, Plan N, or Plan F. Massachusetts does not use those same standardized plan options. Instead, Massachusetts has its own state-specific Medicare Supplement plans.
The main options are:
Core Plan
The Core Plan helps cover some Medicare-approved costs, but you will be responsible for certain out-of-pocket expenses, including:
-
-
- Part A Inpatient Hospital Deductible
- Part A Skilled Nursing Facility Co-Insurance
- Part B Deductible
- This plan offers additional Mental Health coverage when not covered by Medicare.
-
Lowest level of coverage; you will still have several out-of-pocket costs.
Supplement 1 Plan
The Supplement 1 Plan is available only to individuals who were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020.
- This plan generally covers 100% of Medicare-approved deductibles and coinsurance.
- This plan also includes additional mental health coverage when it is not covered by Medicare.
Most comprehensive plan, but only available if Medicare-eligible before 1/1/2020
Supplement 1A/2 Plan
- The Supplement 1A / 2 Plan helps cover most Medicare-approved costs.
- Your only responsible for the Medicare Part B deductible.
- This plan also includes additional mental health coverage when it is not covered by Medicare.
Most comprehensive plan for those Medicare eligible after 1/1/2020
